With the continuous growth of the laser industry, customers in the processing industry are already
familiar with the laser machine.Although they are all in the processing industry, there are great
differences between laser engraving and laser cutting.Today, I’d like to talk to you about the
difference between laser engraving and laser cutting.
Laser engraving process:
Laser engraving is a marking method that uses high-energy and high-density laser beam to act
on the target to make physical or chemical changes on the target surface, so as to obtain visible patterns.
The high-energy laser beam focuses on the material surface, which makes the material vaporize rapidly
and form pits. As the laser beam moves regularly on the material surface and controls the on and off of the laser,
the laser beam is processed into a specific pattern on the material surface.
Laser cutting process:
Laser cutting uses invisible beam instead of traditional mechanical knife, which has the characteristics of high precision,
fast cutting speed, no restriction of cutting pattern, automatic typesetting, material saving, smooth cutting and low processing cost,
It will gradually improve or replace the traditional metal cutting equipment. There is no contact between the mechanical part of the
laser cutter head and the workpiece, and the workpiece surface will not be scratched during operation; The laser cutting speed is fast,
the incision is smooth and flat, and generally there is no need for subsequent processing;Small cutting heat affected zone,
small plate deformation and narrow cutting gap (0.1mm ~ 0.3mm); The notch shall be free of mechanical stress and shear burr;
High machining precision, good repeatability and no damage to the material surface; NC programming can process any scheme
and cut the whole board with large width, saving time and economy.
